Horse Sense Education

Our students learn just as much out of the saddle as in the saddle. Our 'Horse Sense' curriculum focuses on the health, welfare, body language, and basic knowledge for the horse. Fun classroom setting where you can test your horse knowledge and even win prizes and awards at the end of the year!

  Horse Centered Education

To successfully ride a horse, a student must know how to read a horses body language on the ground. Within the 'Horse Centered" part of our curriculum; our students learn how to lunge a horse, get a horse into a trailer, have control of their horse 'at liberty', and so much more. Ground work is a vital part of being a successful horseman/horsewoman!

Riding Academy

Our riding academy, the 'horsemanship' side of the curriculum, is all about mounted learning. This is a strict leveling program. These levels were created to ensure that young riders never cut any corners in the equestrian sport. At Blue Horse Stables - it is incredibly important that the classical art of riding is instilled in every future athlete.

  Life Skills - Events

Horseback riding is so much more than riding a horse. Patience, determination, hard work, and commitment are all taught in this curriculum. Some of the greatest lessons are truly learned in the barn, and will stay with your child forever.

Our private lessons are about 45 minutes and consist of one on one training between instructor and rider. Depending on the level of rider - the horse must be tacked up, warmed up, and ready to go AT your lesson time. Mounting your horse AT lesson time means that part of your lesson will consist of the warm up.

You must wear appropriate riding attire and safety equipment (helmet, tall boots OR paddock boots WITH half chaps, riding breeches, appropriate top, and safety vest if riding cross country).

Inappropriate riding clothes, lack of helmet or safe footwear; will mean cancelling your riding lesson without refund.

We offer small group lesson sizes (4 or less) by request ONLY. We do feel one on one ridng instruction is most beneficial and safe for our youth riders.

Yes! We offer partial, half, and occassionally full lease options. It is a great way to introduce our students to horse ownership. We highly recommend leasing before purchasing your first horse to board at Blue Horse Stables.

Yes! A big part of learning to be a successful equestrian is learning how to work your horse on the ground. Teaching respect and good behavior to your horse before ever mounting - is vital and a KEY aspect to being a 'good classical horseman'.

Keep an eye out for our unmounted lesson slots available under our booking platform.

Every month - we host classes for our 'Littles' riders, Youth A, & Youth B rider groups.

In our classes we learn all things from basic horse care, stable management, hoof education, equine anatomy, and more.

We also come together as a group to work on a cool project that will expand your horse knowledge out of the saddle.

It's a lot of fun and also gives our students the opportunity to discover many ways to be a great horseman.

The way we separate our students - is based on experience.

Our youngest/newest riders are a part of the "littles" which are our (Rainbow & Red) riders.

Youth A is grade (Yellow to Blue)

Youth B is grade (Orange to Teal)

Pony Bee Riding Club is powered by the Horse Sense Learning Level's grading system.

What this Curriculum will Do for the Youth Rider

  • Develop an understanding of safe practices in the stable, fostering a mindset of safety-awareness and the ability to clearly explain the reasons behind established rules.
  • Gain insights into fundamental equine psychology, enabling them to interact with horses with empathy and thoughtful consideration.
  • Master ground handling and stable management skills with confidence.
  • Cultivate sufficient barn knowledge to be an asset as a working student or "barn rat."
  • Expand their equine knowledge, appreciating the diversity of disciplines and philosophies.
  • Recognize that an equestrian's education is a lifelong journey, with a commitment to continuous learning and growth.
  • The Learning Levels mounted curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to cater to English riding lessons. As students advance through the Levels, they are guided towards developing a secure and adaptable balanced seat, along with a comprehensive foundational education in flatwork, jumping or pole work, and riding in open environments.
  • We hold the belief that a proficient rider can perform effectively in any saddle, as many core principles of horsemanship are universally applicable. Our aspiration is for students to pursue any riding discipline they desire, equipped with proper equitation, a keen attention to detail and safety, and a deep understanding of aids and equine psychology.
